So I went on a little adventure this week AND I want to tell someone about it!!!!
I have decided to change to cloth diapers, but I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Have you ever looked into cloth diapering? There are so many different kinds, but that is a discussion for another day.
I have decided for now to make my own fitted diapers but as I get further into this cloth diapering thing I might change my mind ... we will see.
First, I had to try to find a pattern that I liked, and for me it had to be free. I am not going to put too much money into this if I still might change my mind. I found this one:
Diaper Pattern! There are a hundred patterns out there!
Next, I had to pick a material to make them out of. I decided to use flannel receiving blankets, so I started cutting out the pattern and laying them out.

Then, I wanted a pocket to pull the insert out for faster drying, so I watch some YouTube videos on all-in-one pocket diapers. There are a lot just to warn you. I modified my pattern. I just put the back of the the diaper pattern in the scanner and made a copy. Next I had to cut more pieces and lay It all out.

Finally, I got to start sewing my favorite part
(even if i had to do it with a 10 month old on my lap)!
All in all the first one took three days. Then I made a second one in one day, and the next day I made two inserts by cutting up a old towel and sewing the sides together. So five days and I have made two diapers with inserts, but I went to Wal-mart and bought covers. I don't want to deal with that YET!
