After the Fact.. Cloth Diapers

So I know this is late but...
I am still using the diapers I made, but I bought 3 to fill in.

Selling my craft

My  Mom is opening a craft store and asked me to make some things for her store . I don't like to sell my homemade items. I love just giving them to family..
But...
I will do it for her, she gave me two months notices to make as many things as I could.
But, it just happened to be over Nov. 1st-Dec. 30th, that is when I like to make Christmas gifts. No time for that this year, oh well.
Here are a few things I made!!

An Adventure in Cloth Diapers

So I went on a little adventure this week AND I want to tell someone about it!!!!

I have decided to change to cloth diapers, but I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Have you ever looked into cloth diapering? There are so many different kinds, but that is a discussion for another day.

I have decided for now to make my own fitted diapers but as I get further into this cloth diapering thing I might change my mind ... we will see.

First, I had to try to find a pattern that I liked, and for me it had to be free. I am not going to put too much money into this if I still might change my mind. I found this one:  Diaper Pattern! There are a hundred patterns out there!

Next, I had to pick a material to make them out of. I decided to use flannel receiving blankets, so I started cutting out the pattern and laying them out.

two pocket pieces

Then, I wanted a pocket to pull the insert out for faster drying, so I watch some YouTube videos on all-in-one pocket diapers. There are a lot just to warn you. I modified my pattern. I just put the back of the the diaper pattern in the scanner and made a copy. Next I had to cut more pieces and lay It all out.
Little extra

Finally, I got to start sewing my favorite part
(even if i had to do it with a 10 month old on my lap)!

All in all the first one took three days. Then I made a second one in one day, and the next day I made two inserts by cutting up a old towel and sewing the sides together. So five days and I have made two diapers with inserts, but I went to Wal-mart and bought covers. I don't want to deal with that YET!

This was my week. How was yours?

Stuck in an Apartment

I have recently moved to a new state, and having trouble meeting new people. Well not meeting people. I can meet people, but it's moving to the next step that I have trouble. How do I go from acquaintance to friends?

I have moved from a house to an apartment. I need to find things to do out of the apartment to meet people.

So I have had a lot of time to crochet. My favorite thing to crochet is little toys for my two children, and gifts for my family.

New year! Now what?

Ok, so its a new year to make a new me. I don't really want a new me just a healthier one! But I can not stop eating sweets. but I am exercising more. I have had sore arms for two day. from working out on my Wii Fit. It works if I can stick to it for more than a week. I think I made it two weeks last time... I want to at least make it a month, it should get easier after that... I better get to my Wii Fit then.

Projects

I am a very crafty person. I love to do almost anything to do with crocheting.
But do I have the time with two kids (14 months and 3 years) to do it? I did get some things done for Christmas. I even sold some things for the first time.
My sister was the one who started me on crocheting. I remember making chains all the time. I made bracelets and necklaces for ever one I knew.
Back to the point I cant seen to finish anything big because I can't see the progress.  I can make little things like little animals but that's it. Right now I am trying to make a wool hat for my husband but I feel like I am getting nowhere but I know I am 1/3 of the way there. But I don't want to do it any more. I have started looking for my next project thinking if I find something I want to make it will force me to finish the hat. I might just start the next one anyways.
